Pleasant Hub Culture & Platform Guidelines

Pleasant Hub is a new online social community specifically designed for all people 55+ people to "stay connected" with other folks our age in a posting culture from a kinder and gentler time. We created Pleasant Hub because senior loneliness is real and an epidemic in our country with 28% of people over 65 living alone. The platform functionality and posting guidelines below were developed to enable a welcoming and friendly place where age, experience and maturity are appreciated and where hate and disrespect are not tolerated. In other words, how Social Media should have evolved, instead of what it has become on other major platforms.

Pleasant Hub Culture
Before we get into what is, and is not allowed on the platform, let's address the Pleasant Hub Culture. Every social networking site has a unique culture specific to their platform. Some platforms encourage political confrontation, others allow their users to spew hateful comments while hiding behind their computer screens. We can't let that happen here. Our reason for developing Pleasant Hub was to create an environment that is different from most other social networks. If you choose to participate here, we ask you to embrace the Pleasant Hub Culture which is welcoming and friendly and based upon the guiding philosophy of mutual respect and appreciating that we've all traveled different paths in life to get here that bring unique experiences and knowledge which have shaped our opinions and perspectives. Let's appreciate our differences as a strength.
Probably the two most important elements to achieve this are:

• =>  Pleasant Hub does not allow: politics, hate speech, harassment or disrespect on the platform.
• =>  Pleasant Hub is not programmed with an Algorithm that force feeds content at you.
  Instead, we have empowered you to determine what content you wish to see in your Main Activity Feed when you login.
  In your General Account Settings you can set the Default Activity Feed you see on your homepage to:

• All Updates – Renders everything posted in chronological order.
• Filtered Feed – Users are required to assign a category when they create a post on Pleasant Hub. The Filtered Feed only renders posts in the categories you selected in your General Account Settings that you wish to see.
• Friends Only – Renders only posts by people you have created a Friendship on the platform. This allows you to develop a circle of like-minded "Friends" on the platform with similar posting styles which your Friends Only Feed will render.
• Followed – Rendering posts created by people you Follow on Pleasant Hub.

Note: You still have the ability to see all four feeds on your homepage, but the functionality detailed above allows you to set which Activity Feed renders when you login.
Platform Guidelines
While we truly regret pointing out so much negativity below, we need to be very clear about what Pleasant Hub does allow, and does NOT allow so people can fearlessly share their life experiences, ideas, knowledge and thoughts.

1) You Must Abide by the Pleasant Hub Posting Guidelines
By accessing, viewing or using the Pleasant Hub website in any manner you agree and accept our Terms and Conditions of Use in their entirety.

We ask you to observe our strict policy of:   #NoHate,  #NoCreeps,  #NoViolence,  #NoPolitics   #NoHarassment,  and always posting with #MuchRespect for all Pleasant Hub Users.

2) Everyone Age 55+ is Welcome on Pleasant Hub!
Pleasant Hub is an online social network where everyone over 55 years of age is welcome and we understand and accept that nobody is perfect. Our mission is to keep Pleasant Hub an enjoyable experience where all members can post and share without fear of being attacked online or receiving hate speech. To this end, Pleasant Hub will not tolerate any account, person or post that insults, ridicules, disrespects, degrades or threatens on the basis of:

• • Race
• • Ethnicity
• • National Origin
• • Religion or Religious Affiliation
• • Political Views or Leanings
• • Political Party
• • Disability or Disease
• • Gender
• • Gender Identity
• • Sexual Orientation
• • Skin Color
• • Immigrants, with or without legal status or asylum-seeking
• • A Country or its People
• • A State or its People

3) No Hate
Please observe our #NoHate and #NoHarassment policy that avoids aggressive posting that is abusive, disrespectful or degrading, includes foul language, or includes any form of personal attack.

Pleasant Hub counts an “attack” as, but not limited to, the following or any combination thereof:

• • Personal Insults
• • Degrading Generalizations
• • Comments that ridicule an individual or any group of people
• • Profanity targeted at a segment of the population or at any individual
• • Slurs against protected categories
• • Calls to exclude any group of people based upon the categories listed above in section #2
• • Dismissing a group as less valuable or worthy
• • Calls for Violence

4) Please Post & Comment with Mutual Respect
It would be delusional if we thought we can make everyone get along in these current times. Obviously not. But in this era of disconent, let's make Pleasant Hub a unique place where the posting culture is one of Mutual Respect without the angry, aggressive, combative tone found on other social media sites. To help us keep this platform a pleasant place to share thoughts, you will find an "Actions" option on every post and comment to Report as Inappropriate to the Admin Team that someone crossed the line posting content or comments. If we get an inappropriate content report, most likely we will delete the offending post or comment because if it offended one, it probably offended others. However please note that Pleasant Hub reserves the right to determine what is, and is not appropriate at its sole discretion.

5) It's OK to have an Opinion, and it's OK to Respectfully Disagree.
Pleasant Hub communities are intended to enable lively, but civil interaction. It's OK to have an opinion and it's OK to respectfully disagree with another member's post, comment or opinion. The Platform Guidelines are NOT intended to stop disagreement. Other points of view strengthen Pleasant Hub and are 100% acceptable and perfectly fine, as long as you post contrarian responses in a respectful manner.

6) No Harassment
Any form of harassment is strictly against our "Pleasant Culture" philosophy. This includes, but is not limited to: Posts, Comments, Replies or Direct Messages which ridicule or disrespect an individual or segment of people or include hateful verbiage, offensive name-calling, purposeful embarrassment, threatening, cyber-bullying, suggestive or sexual images, sustained sending of unwanted direct messages or pictures and so on.

7) No Creeps
Posts, comments or direct messages on Pleasant Hub that include statements to degrade, ridicule or disrespect comments about someone or their appearance are NOT acceptable. Ending a post with "Just Kidding" is not humor and not an excuse for bad behavior. These and any other types of provocative or disrespectful comments will not be tolerated.

8) No Politics
If there's a significant source of bad feelings, harassment and hate. . .it's politics. We do not allow Politics on Pleasant Hub because the other side will feel compelled to respond and the shouting match will be on. We don't want that. Posts or comments that include names of politicians or elected officials, political terms or messaging, meaning or tone, no matter how nicely worded, will be deleted. Just like no one is going to change your political views, you are not going to change anyone else's political views either. Let's Keep Pleasant Hub Politics Free.

9) Marijuana
We ask that posts which include photos of growing, smoking, using or otherwise focused on Marijuana be posted only in Groups created for Marijuana users and NOT posted in the main activity feed on your home page.

10) No Violence
Pleasant Hub does not allow content depicting violence or suggesting violent acts with text, images or video anywhere on the platform.

11) No Pornography
Pleasant Hub does not allow pornographic content in any form (text, video or images).

12) No Solicitation - Asking Members for Money is Strictly Prohibited
While we understand there is real hardship, we also cannot let Pleasant Hub become home to scammers. It is well recognized that scammers target older people to steal their money with various sad stories. As such Pleasant Hub does not allow solicitation of members to send money, transfer money, make business investments, send gift cards or gift card numbers or any other way Scammers try to steal your money. If you receive a personal Direct Message asking for money, we ask that you immediately report it to the Admin so we can delete that Member's Account. Notice: You also acknowledge and understand that Pleasant Hub does NOT vet members in any way, and accepts no liability or responsibility if you fall for a scam you found on this platform which is clearly stated in our Terms and Conditions of Use that you agreed to accept in its entirety when you created your Pleasant Hub account and reaffirm agreement as you continue to access the platform.

13) Reporting Inappropriate Posts, Comments, Replies or other Content
To keep Pleasant Hub a friendly and welcoming environment it will take YOU, WE and ME to help us keep the platform a pleasant place free of hate and disrespect and aligned with our ideals and standards. As such, Members will find an "Actions" link adjacent to each post, comment or photo to report inappropriate content to the Admin Team. We ask members to use this function wisely as it will generally cause the content reported to be deleted and if the behavior is egregious enough, the member's account as well.

14) Pleasant Hub Reserves the right to delete inappropriate content or member login accounts at it sole discretion.
Pleasant Hub reserves the right to determine what constitutes inappropriate content or behavior and to delete content or the offending Member's login and account at its sole discretion and without Member/User recourse.

15) Terms and Conditions of Use
By using or accessing Pleasant Hub in any way you accept the policies above along with additional conditions and your user rights as stated in our published Terms & Conditions of Use.
